Children are born with the capacity to learn music and language. This course discusses the benefits of music for young children using hearing technology. Models for aural habilitation as well as goals and objectives within a music therapy session are reviewed in this course. Additionally, strategies for creating music interventions and incorporating activities into daily life are explored.

Course Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to explain how to create meaningful music experiences for children.
  • Participants will be able to describe reasons to incorporate music with children with assistive hearing devices.
  • Participants will be able to give examples of other common goal areas within music interventions.
  • Participants will be able to identify three ways to incorporate music at home.
