This course provides goals, activities, and support material for parents and professionals working with babies and toddlers in developing spoken language through listening. Videos are used to demonstrate specific auditory habilitation techniques. Discussions center on audition, receptive language, expressive language, and speech goals with suggestions of songs and stories appropriate for young children. Links are given to participants to access the free resources developed by Cochlearâ„¢, Sound Foundation for Babies and Sound Foundation for Toddlers.

This is a Recorded Course which requires either a Windows-based computer or a Mac with speakers/headphones to view. More information is available in the FAQs/Help section.

Course Objectives:

  • After this course, learners will be able to describe guidance that can be given to parents in setting goals and incorporating meaningful activities throughout the day.
  • After this course, learners will be able to list goals in five different domains: auditory, receptive language, expressive language, speech, and books/songs.
  • After this course, learners will be able to describe specific tips for effectively teaching young children.
  • After this course, learners will be able to explain how to utilize a variety of resources and support materials for auditory habilitation.
