This foundational course describes how hearing works and how technologies such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and the Cochlear™ Baha® can help when a person has hearing loss. Audiological candidacy guidelines for Cochlear™ Nucleus® Implants and Baha are reviewed, and the technology is briefly described. Further, an overview of the use of assistive listening devices for both product lines is discussed.
This is a Recorded Course which requires either a Windows-based computer or a Mac with speakers/headphones to view. More information is available in the FAQs/Help section.

Course Objectives:
- Upon completing this course, participants will be able to describe how a Baha works and for whom it is appropriate.
- Upon completing this course, participants will be able to describe how a cochlear implant works and for whom it is appropriate.
- Upon completing this course, participants will be able to describe how an FM system works and why it is beneficial to people using hearing assistance technology.
- Upon completing this course, participants will be able to name at least one type of accessory for the Nucleus 5 Sound Processor and one type of accessory for the Baha BP100 Sound Processor.
